The term Rg6 is a very general name and it is used in a lot of cable designs. It also uses cat 5 wire but bulk plenum cable can also be used. This kind of Rg6 bulk cable is typically used for a wide variety of residential and commercial applications. The different wiring designs range from shielding characteristics, center conductor composition, and dielectric type. The Rg6 in the Rg6 bulk cable used to be a military spec that meant Radio Guide but it is not referred to that anymore. Now it refers to coaxial cables that have a 18 AWG center conductor and 75 OHM characteristic impedance.
