How Much Will This Cost Me?

I am interested in getting more qualified to work with computers, so I would like to get Microsoft certification. How much will this cost me? Do I just need to take (and pay for) an exam, or do I also have to take a class? Are there materials that are available on line that can help me to prepare on my own? I want to find the least expensive way to get certified since I don’t have a lot of spare cash. The less it costs me the faster I will be able to afford to get the certifications that I will need to change jobs.
