Data protection and customer service

November 20th, 2008 | by admin |

Last week, a friend told me about an incident where a customer got irate when the customer service staff requested the customer’s financial information.  He told me that the customer was upset because he thought it was inappropriate that the customer service department ask him private information.  He had no assurance that his data would be protected.  After this incident, the company changed the policy and now every time a customer is asked for his financial information, he is briefed on the data protection policy of the company.
