Data Protection For The Masses

I am not talking about these fly by night business scams claiming to protect you from identity theft. I mean a good, consumer friendly program for encrypting and managing important data. Now that all these banks and credit card companies are wanting to go to paperless billing to save themselves money and the planet's trees, I would like an electronic version of the safe in my basement. An external data storage solution that offers protection would be even better, especially if it offered biometric scan or voice recognition.
